OHLALA PARIS

Losangelesparis031207

Tomorrow Alek and I will be taking a plane to Paris. We have delayed this inevitable trip as much as we could, but there are too many things we have to deal with in France. As much as I am not looking forward to the rain and the cold it will be nice to spend the holidays in Paris, there are worst things in life I have to admit than having to go to Paris right !? ;-)

CENTRAL PARK IS LOOKING GREEN ... AND HOT !!!

Newyorkhunk110707

For the 4th of July, OhLaLa reader John went to New York City. I am a great fan of his blog Travels and Tribulations his photos are just amazing !!! So instead of the traditional "NYC by Night" postcard, John sent us a shot from Central Park ;-)

OH DEAR ... VIDAL SASOON LONDON !

Walking in central London, my attention was caught by the window of the Vidal Sasoon hair salon for some reason ;-) The model really makes you want to get a new hair cut don't you think !?

VIVA THE SPANISH AND MEXICAN RELATIONSHIP !

Mexico230507

For our last lunch in Mexico city a couple of weeks ago, we have been to the Centro Cultural de Espana located behind the cathedral. On top of the building there is a huge terrace where you can enjoy tapas and exhibitions.

To celebrate the relationship between Mexico and Spain, 5 artists, have been invited for a unique exhibition that will be running until June 18th. One of the artists make a clear design about the "good" relationship between those tow countries. Let's hope Bernardo won't get too jealous ;-)

HASTA LUEGO MEXICO ...

As we have promised, this is the last series of photos from our week in Mexico. They are mainly shot in the area of Coyoacan ! For me who loves taking photos (as you may have noticed ;-) I have to say that this country is very inspiring.

Of course this is my vision of the city and if you go to Mexico you will have your own experience ! But for now I am happy to be able to share our experience of Mexico with you guys !

Mexico12050715

The area of Coyoacan is absolutely gorgeous, we have walked in Francisco Sosa street where are located big houses with beautiful colonial architecture. Coyoacan was home of Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera and also to Leon Trotsky.

In one week we had probably more OJ than what we can drink in one entire year ... lol ! In every street corner you can get one freshly squeezed OJ and they are de-li-cious !!

I took so many photos that I almost got a tan line on my face in the shape of our camera ;-)

VIVA LA VIDA // FRIDA KAHLO CASA AZUL COYOACAN

Fridakahlo09casaazul

Being a huge fan of Frida Kahlo, I was really excited about our visit to the famous Casa Azul located in the gorgeous area of Coyoacan. The Casa Azul is a fascinating place, peaceful and at the same time full of energy.

Fridakahlo04casaazul

The house is now a gallery where some of Kahlo's paintings can be seen, including her last work, Viva la Vida, a vibrant still life of watermelons !

Fridakahlo06casaazul

Frida had some kind of obsession for self-portraits, about 1/3 of her work; it worked as a sort of therapy to survive. She turned her attention away from the study of medicine to begin a full-time painting career after a bus accident that left her severely injured for the rest of her life !

We have spent an incredible afternoon relaxing in the garden of the Casa Azul. I felt like they could close the museum so we can move in ;-) Her atelier would have been perfect for me as well ! I can totally see myself painting there and looking over the fountain and the garden ... not that there is something wrong with mon atelier Parisien but I would love to be able to paint outside sometimes ...

Below two videos, on the left the sexy tango scene from the movie with Salma Hayek and on the right a slide show of Frida's work !

Frida Kahlo died on July 13th 1954, A few days before her death she had written in her diary: "I hope the exit is joyful, and I hope never to return."

BIENVENIDO EN TAXCO MEXICO !

Taxcomexico03

Yesterday we have traveled south, to the city of Taxco, located in the hills between Acapulco and Mexico City. The town of Taxco has been declared a national historical monument to preserve the colonial architecture and heritage. The discovery of silver transformed the city into one of Mexico's wealthiest.

Taxcomexico05

The hardest decision we had to make, was to choose a terrace to relax on and drink ;-) The city of Taxco is built on the side of a mountain, with very steep narrow cobblestone streets lined by whitewashed houses with red-tiled roofs. It is also renowned for its more than 200-year-old baroque-style church, the parish church of Santa Prisca.

Taxcomexico18

It is one of the most beautiful cities we have seen. I am so glad we came here since we kinda go with the flow these days ! It is hard to make a selection out of the 400 pictures I am taking everyday, but I hope this selection reflects the best our experience in Taxco !

MEXICO CITY & TEOTIHUACAN

Mexico07050710

We have started our first day in Mexico by a visit to Teotihuacan ! The name Teotihuacan was given by the Aztec after the fall of the city, and is translated as "the place where men became gods". According to legend it was where the Gods gathered to plan the creation of man.

Mexico07050704

We have decided to climb the pyramid of the Sun, the tallest of the two major pyramids, with the altitude of the site you feel like you're going to have an heart attack, but it's all worth it !

Mexico07050709

Mexico07050708 Mexico07050701

The weather was gorgeous and the site was almost empty, if it was not for the sun burns it would have been perfect ;-)

Mexico07050707

We have decided to go back to Mexico city for lunch. The way back took a little while since our bus was not direct, and the traffic in the villages was kind of bad ;-) But we did enjoyed the ride !

Mexico07050706

We didn't really know where to go so we have decided to go at Zocalo and pick a roof top terrace restaurant, the view on the Metropolitana Cathedral was just incredible !

Mexico07050705

Not sure where we will be going today but we will make sure to share it with you guys tomorrow. Posts will be coming online later tonight.
