C'EST LE SUMMER :-)

Not that we were waiting for the official Summer launch to put on our speedo and suncream ;-) A couple of photos from one of our favorite places in L.A. The restaurant Asia de Cuba at the Mondrian Hotel located on Sunset Boulevard. Perfect for a light summer lunch with friends that ends up around the pool by the Sky Bar with a panoramic view on the city of Angels. Now all we need is a cool song a martini and we can enjoy the summer !

After the huge success of the Axel Barcelona Gay Hotel (opened in July 2003), the Axel Hotels’ team begins with the construction of their second hotel now in Argentina.

The Axel Buenos Aires Hotel will have 48 rooms, restaurant, cocktail bar, chill out area, spa, swimming pool and solarium, outdoors bar and wi-fi access in all the hotel.... This oasis of comfort located in the gay friendly district of San Telmo will open its doors in April of 2007.

THE GRAND CANYON SKYWALK PROJECT

We flew many times over the Grand Canyon but never enjoyed a walk down there ! This might change (or not) our mind ;-) The Glass Bridge Construction of the Skywalk began March of 2004 and is estimated to be completed by this summer. The Glass Bridge will be suspended 4,000 feet above the Colorado River on the very edge of the Grand Canyon. On May 2005, the final test was conducted and the stucture passed engineering requirements by 400 percent, enabling it to withstand the weight of 71 fully loaded Boeing 747 airplanes. The bridge will be able to sustain winds in excess of 100 miles per hour from 8 different directions, as well as an 8.0 magnitude earthquake.

ALL GLASS UNDERWATER RESTAURANT - MALDIVES

After 15 months of renovation and $35 Million later, the Hilton Maldives Resort & Spa Rangali Island reopened last June. One of the most interesting parts of the renovation being the first and only all glass undersea restaurant that cost around $5 million to build. It was built by Mike Murphy Ltd using technology more common in public aquaria than in the world of catering.

So if you want to know how it feels to have fishes looking at you while you're eating their relatives, this is THE place. To stay at the Hilton Maldives Resort & Spa Rangali, it will cost you between $300 and $4500 depending on the season and the room, Sushi not included ! "The only place on earth where there are thousand ways to do nothing ..." and I like that !

MALDIVES ISLAND - LUXURY RESORT

Opened this past May, Reethi Rah - beautiful Island - is the latest jewel of the One&Only Resorts. 130 private villas (some of the largest resort villas in the world). On the beach or sitting over the lagoon ... what a terrible dilemma we have here !

A week at the Reethi Rah and you might wanna go and relax at their private spa before the check out, to experience a Thai massage or some European aromatherapy - I don't know what the hell is that - but I am sure it feels good ! Yeah ... you better relax before the bill !

The price range goes between $800 up to $3600, depending on the season, make sure to check the right season with you bank account gate keeper. If this isn't a dream come true, then perhaps you haven't been getting enough sleep ;-)
