DUMBLEDORE OUTED IN HARRY POTTER

How utterly ridiculous !! Why would anyone find this a reason to aplause is beyond me.... JK Rowling is an idiot ... it serves no purpose whatsover to reveal that Dumbledore is gay !! I really cant see a sensual gay love scene with this grody looking "old thing" in the up and coming movies or books... gross not a good vision for my head nor any child..The world is going to hell in a handbasket !! We are just not ready for nude wrinkled geriatric wizard love..YUCK

Im not a bigot nor am I hateful and I know the world is not full of hot 20 year olds... like get real if anyone is hateful its YOU Gene for attacking me in your comment I never showed any hate at all to anyone I merely expressed my own personal opinion ... I just dont get why JK Rowling would reveal that an aged wizard is gay ?? It serves no purpose at all.... give me a good reason why this is a smart move for her or anyone else considering most of her books are aimed at young children...is is really necessary to tell children or anyone else that an aged wizard is gay ??? Beats me..... I just think it destroys a childs fantasy and illusion and why reveal it now for heavens sake .... really dumb I think.

Umm, why reveal it? Perhaps because thousands of young gay, lesbian and questioning kids try to kill themselves each year because they feel alone and never come across anyone with with feelings like theirs when they're reading. If one child knows this as they read the book- and sees that he's not a freak, evil, etc.- then she's done the (gay) world a real service. Chris- you're an ass.

And no.. I don't hate you, nor am I attacking you.. I just think you should go and read the frickin' books man. (Upcoming books???)
I think it's awesome that JK revealed that Dumbledore was gay. It won't really affect the books at all because, HELLO, they've already been written!
It's just a piece of information that she probably had in her head that helped her mould that character and help in the storyline with how he's never had a woman love or how close he was with his male wizard friend and was crushed that he was evil etc etc etc.
And don't be silly... they're not going to add sex scenes in Harry Potter! It's still aimed for a young audience so I'm pretty sure the only 'sex' they're going to show it boys and girls 'snogging' their brains out LIKE IT SAYS IN THE BOOK!
And you're right Jason, it gonna greatly help some kids who now have an amazing role model, even though he's not a real person we know he's someone who's good and everyone loves and respects despite what he might've done in the ancient past yada yada.

Oh like get a life bookworms lighten up !! have some fun instead of sitting around with your heads in a boring book... there is more to life than the HARRY POTTER manifesto way of life... I have better things to do in life like having fun and dealing with real issues... than sitting around the house all day reading fantasy novels.. there are real issues happening in the world ..Ever thought of actually doing something about REAL issues instead of worrying what the Harry Potter gang are up too ? like really pathetic....my exciting world fortunately does not revolve around tragic fantasy novels. I have no interest in the books and no interest in reading them... if I want fantasy I will take a pill or something... I deal in reality kids ever thought of facing the real world girlfriends ? people are starving and people are dying of aids !! ever thought of getting off your ass and doing something about it other than sitting around reading crap. By the way who gave you lot a child psychology degree to goven how young people should think or feel or actually want to read ? ... and..... oh and I dont really think that some child is going to discover some cosmic fantastic outing experience and discover the joys of gay life just because some decrepid old wizard in some crap novel turns out queer....like honestly get real get a life.

I agree that she really had no reason to out a character... um, out of the blue. However, note that she did so AFTER it would not affect the Harry Potter book sales. Interesting, to say the least.
She was probably planning to out the character all along, as surely she knows some gays personally and therefore wanted to pay some tribute to them by making a very esteemed character gay to cover all the spectrum of life.
I just think all this shit is funny because seriously, just say he's gay in an article and not in the middle of Carnegie Hall or whatever during a children's event where their possibly conservative parents will be.

All the more reason to do so! Can you believe that some 'conservative' parents don't want their kids readind HP cos it's got witchcraft in it?
They actually had to wait for the pope to say HP deals with Good vs. Evil and is therefore a good book, to let their kids read them.
Will be great to stick this in their faces.
Besides, this way it's literally out of her mouth instead of people wondering if some article writer was 'paraphrasing'.
Hmm, and yeah, there's no actual mentioning of Dumbledore's gayness in the book, so maybe she was pretty worried about sales...
