NATE BERKUS // OUT MAGAZINE
Oprah's design divo, Nate Berkus does the cover of OUT magazine and a fashion spread photographed by Jesse Frohman and styled by Gregory Wein. Our buddies from OUT has sent to us a little preview of the shoot. The first time I saw Nate on television (on Oprah's bien sur) I immediately googled him, sadly it was the day he gave his first interview after loosing his partner, photographer Fernando Bengoechea, during the dramatic tsunami in 2004.
In his interview for OUT by Bill Keith, he says that after telling his and Bengoechea's story, he received tremendous amount of letters and e-mails from kids across the country who were coming out. They said that watching the way his relashionship with Fernando was presented on the show gave them the courage to say to their friends and parents "You know what I am just like him and I want to have what he had" I have to say that their story was presented like a love story and it was very moving ...

apparently alot of people thought he was a bit pompous and jerky before his bf died..now he's a saint? nice playing of the dead boyfriend card...

I'm torn. He's very talented, but on camera he can come across fake sometimes. I'm not going to touch the dead boyfriend thing, because nobody should lose a loved one like that, whether or not they're nice people. However, Nate really touched me when he managed to help a Katrina victim to save his dog -- being an animal lover, I thought that was a great thing NB did.
On a separate note, is big hair back this season? Most guys can't pull off the bouffant look...

As much as I love to see him on TV, how long has it been since his last hair cut?
