LA VIE DE CHATEAU // VAUX LE VICOMTE

What to do on a beautiful sunny sunday in Paris !? Too many things, and we always end up doing the same ones. So this morning we've jumped in our car and drove outside Paris.

Our first stop, Vaux Le Vicomte, a castle built in 1658 for Nicolas Fouquet, the superintendent of finances of Louis XIV. Who apparently was doing a good job with the Kingdom's money ;-)
After one kick ass inauguration, the King has decided to put Fouquet in prison ! And then asked for a similar luxury home, today known as Versailles Ego! Ego!

Those who enjoy panoramic views, and are not afraid of going through narrow stairs, should not miss the visit of the Dome (the inside is very cool) and from the top you get to enjoy the French Gardens landscaped by Le Nôtre.
After a long walk in the Gardens, where you discover new perspectives, fountains, river ... finally you can enjoy your reward ! The buttylicious Hercules, I mean the fantastic perspective of the Gardens and the Castle !

This castle is a very romantic place, and it is not as crowded as Versailles, even if it should be because it is just as fantastic ! A must see on your next visit to Paris.

Now those who wanna join us for the visit of the Castle can click :: HERE :: Follow your guides ;-)

Thanks guys for bringing us pictures of your beautiful city. As I am on the other side of the world it is a pleasure to see what you boys are doing in France. Cheers

Thanks guys.Visited Versailles last year and the crowds were something else. Bit of a rugby match in the Grands Appartements. Will definitely visit Vaux Le Vicomte when I'm there in December.

Thanks guys! The pics are beautiful. Went to Vaux le Vicomte back in '96 with my partner. Got there in the afternoon, did the grounds (yes! the Hercules statue!) and then it was too late to see the interior! So really appreciated seeing your interior pics. Jim (Chicago)
