EATING OUT 2 // INTERVIEW WITH THE DIRECTOR

We were really happy and lucky to be able to visit the crew of Eating Out 2: Sloppy Seconds on their last day of shooting. We met the fun and "crazy" cast, our friend Allan Brocka (the coauthor and producer of the movie and director of Eating Out), and the director Phillip J. Bartell. So there was no chance to miss the opportunity to interview all of them :-) Here is what Phillip (director) has to say:

Envy
PJB: would be a waste of time if it wasn't occasionally a potent motivator.  

Attraction
PJB: is so tied up with personality for me.  Sure, I can see someone I'm hot for, but if I speak to him and he's a creep or he doesn't have a brain or is straight, my attraction takes an immediate nosedive.

Tinseltown
PJB: For better or worse, the place I call home.  If you eliminated the smog and the lack of decent public transportation, I'd love L.A.; I've got great friends, a wonderful home, plenty of places to hike and play tennis, and the best movie theaters in the world.

Impressed
PJB: I'm constantly impressed by my dear friend Q. Allan Brocka, who wrote and directed the original Eating Out and who co-wrote with me and co-produced the sequel.  He has tirelessly and successfully continued to figure out ways to get his own queer-themed work out into the world.  I wouldn't have directed my first feature were it not for him.  I'm also impressed by actors/entertainers who come out of the closet. 

Nasty
PJB: What most people never expect us nice boys to be. 

Glam
PJB: is overrated.  And, from what I recall, a fleeting feeling.

Outraged
PJB: How I feel that we in the U.S. elected Bush not once but twice.

Underwear
PJB: American Apparel's colorful briefs makes me excited about underwear again.  Although I still prefer 'em off.

Types
PJB: I'm happy to say that my "type" has grown less specific over the years.  Thankfully, the older I get, the more what I'm attracted to expands.

2...
PJB: is fun, but 3 is nasty fun.
