BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN'S RECORD-BREAKING OPENING
After 3 days in 5 theaters in New York City, Los Angeles and San Francisco Brokeback Mountain THE movie of THE year made an estimated $544,549. This is the highest per-screen average for any film released in 2005 and its journey and impact are just beginning ! The movie was hailed as the finest movie of 2005 by the Los Angeles Film Critics Association on Saturday in the first of several award lists expected to narrow the field of Oscar contenders. What real Cowboys think of Brokeback mountain ?
At the same time we would like to take this opportunity to thank Brokeback Mountain for being one of OhLaLa's cool partners !

The Boston Society of Film Critics voted is best of 2005 as well. There is sooo much buzz around this film, I can't wait to see it. I also can't help but be frustrated by the fact that only FIVE theaters are currently showing this film. I can get an advance ticket to see freaking King Kong, but not Brokeback Mountain. Damn it!!

Today, the NY Film Critics gave its nod to the film, Ang and Heath as the best film, director and actor of the year..clearly, this is The Oscar frontrunner.
Here in NY, only three moviehouses are showing the film, one of which is Clearview in Chelsea, our gay central. It has been packed to the rafters since Friday.

This Taiwanese director is so amazing. I saw his debut gay comedy "Wedding Banquet" and I like it so much. That makes me look forward to his second gay movies so much.

Saw it Saturday morning in NYC — very intense, and the audience very focussed and quiet. Beautiful filmmaking by Ang Lee.

I am from a small town in Arizona, and there was only one place in the ENTIRE state showing this film. My friends and I traveled an hour and my friend that was driving got a $300.00 speeding ticket because he thought we were going to be late. We made a later show and it was well worth it.
