ALLAN BROCKA - REALLY PERSONAL INTERVIEW
Allan Brocka is the writer and director of the college sex comedy Eating Out, the upcoming feature film Boy Culture, and creator of the animated series Rick & Steve the Happiest Gay Couple in All the World (coming to Logo). He also writes for The Advocate and Your Mama’s a Blog.

Oral
Nothing beats oral sex and kissing. On screen or off.
Humor
My favorite way to be political and preachy is through humor because that means taking an issue and illustrating it in a personal way. And even if I don’t agree with the message, I can still laugh.
Lecherous
I’ve been a lecherous old man since I was nine. I wrote the most perverted things in junior high.
Animate
My favorite way to express raunchy humor is through animation. You can get away with so much. My offensive animated short film Rick & Steve the Happiest Gay Couple in All the World is what started my career and is now in development as a new series for Logo TV.
Lexicon
The language of the gay community fascinates me.
Audiences
The best part of making a gay film is meeting audiences around the world and watching people have a good time experiencing gay stories on the big screen. Gay audiences are so damned sexy too.

Penises
I like to incorporate full-frontal male nudity in my films, live action or animated. Yes it’s gratuitous. But aren’t movies themselves gratuitous?
Adaptation
Boy Culture is the first novel I adapted. The film is somewhat different from the book and I sometimes wonder if the author will hate me.
Rigor
It’s important for me to write something every single day. Even if it’s just for my blog. It’s like cardio for the imagination.
Idol
I love that silly show American Idol. I even wrote a weekly recap column on it for The Advocate and cast one of the first season finalists, the openly gay Jim Verraros, in Eating Out.
Single
I’m ready to be cured of being single. I’m looking for someone smart as hell, funny as sh!t, and sexy as f*ck.

These still photos and others from Eating Out are spectacularly sexy. If only the film lived up to the stills. The film itself is a muddled mess that I found unwatchable. It may even play better with the sound OFF, just looking at the pretty pictures. It was quite a disappointment to me. For more discussion, see here:

As for Rick & Steve: The Happiest Gay Couple All In The World - blech. They've been playing on Canada's PRIDEVISION (now renamed OUT-TV) for several years now, over and over and over and over and over and over, as filler between shows. One is mildly cute and made me smile a little bit. That's the nicest thing I can say about the entire collection.

I saw this film when it was first pre-released to the indy film circuit. It's a great movie. Everyone should check it out. The actors are definitely hot. I actually have straight friends who are exactly like this, so it was funny as hell to watch.

Eating Out" features one of my all-time favorite quotes: Come out or stay in, don't Heche me into a Mariah!

I think Brocka is doing a huge disservice to the gay community with his conscious choice of "gratuitous" nudity in his terrible films. Eating Out was one of last year's worst reviewed films and is my personal least fave of all time. If you read this, please stop making movies, you talentless hack.

i bought this film as a result of lots of great reviews that i had read, consciously only really wanting to watch it cos because it featured ryan carnes. the acting in the film was a major dissapointment, and left me feeling like i had wasted the money. not very good storyline either. dont recommend it.
