reFRESH MAGAZINE - OHLALA INTERVIEW

"Good morning Oh La La-ers! My name is David Tickner and I’m the Editor-in-Chief of reFRESH Magazine, a gay magazine published in London that focuses on culture, arts, travel and lifestyle. We’ve been running since 2002 with a team of writers and photographers based all over the world. Each month we bring together a unique mix of features, photography and information that would be of interest to a gay man in London, New York or Paris!"
Obsessions
DT: I think this would have to be my obsession with work. I spend a lot of time in the office making sure that every one of the magazines our company (Swan Publishing) produces is as good as it can be.
Headway
DT: This would be the daily challenges associated with working in magazines. The gay magazine marketplace is a vibrant sector in the UK and so you are constantly looking for ways in which you can ensure your title makes headway with raising its profile.
Legacy
DT: This would be in the case of reFRESH to provide a long-lasting magazine that is the leader in providing culture, arts and travel coverage. On a personal level, I would like to be able to say that I made some difference!
Advice
DT: This word is very relevant to my daily work as my job is all about advising people – whether through the pages of the magazine or in the phone calls I have. Information, communication and advice are all key elements of the job.
Liberty
DT: An easy one- liberty for me is Friday night to Sunday night; I can go home, switch off and spend some quality time with friends and family. It would be lovely to be able to find someone special to share my time off with but currently I’m single! But I make sure now that I spend a lot of my weekends not doing too much about work.
Agenda
DT: Agenda? Now that one could be applicable to all things. I see a lot of agendas in management meetings at work and sometimes even in the people you meet. My agenda is to work hard, enjoy my life and hopefully find someone special to share it all with.
